The perfect nude/smokey palette : Inglot

Ok, so it's no secret that I've been obsessing over nude palettes and the UD Naked2 actually comes pretty darn close but not quite. I'd like a matt dark brown too in it so I can use it to create soft brown smokey eyes for daytime office wear too.
So what's the solution? Create your own palette doll! I'm planning to get a 20 shade square palette from inglot and fill it up with all nude shades and complementary lip shades too. Maybe throw in a concealer and a brow powder and ta da! The best palette ever! All that you'll ever need. :)

So here's a list of shades that I personally think would make the perfect smokey eye palette and would also be very versatile in creating various daytime or more glam looks. I've put together some collages for quick reference. Again, the pics are from the www and if anyone objects, I can take them down.

Okay...so the basic shades that I think ought to be in a nude/smokey palette are:
matte black. : 391M
Matte beige. : 350M
Pearl white. : 453P
Gold. : 430P
Champagne highlighter. : 08S
Matte medium taupe brown. : 342M
Matte dark brown. : 378M
Medium copper. : 21S
Silver. : 454P
Matte grey. : 348M

Now onto some unusual, pretty shades to add a bit of colour and depth.
Matte beige with sparkles. : 463 DS
Gunmetal. : 434P
Olive blackened gold. : 419P
Lime-y gold. : 412P
Shimmery orange. : 15S
Shimmery dark plum purple. : 446P
Satin black with gold sparkles. : 64AMC
iridescent blue. : 428P
Iridescent green. : 418P
Iridescenct purple. : 439P
Sparkly teal. : 504 DS

I've also added some smokey eye looks that you can create with this palette.

Doesn't this seem great? Love inglot shadows! They're so buttery and super easy to blend, even the matte ones and great pigmentation too. You can buy these online at ShopAtMajorBrands.com

Inglot dupes for Urban Decay Naked 2 palette

I've been smitten with the Nude palette. Seriously..I see one, I start salivating. And there are soo many options out there. But easily one of the best is the Urban Decay Naked palette and now they've launched the Naked 2 which I think is a whole lot better than the first edition.
So, what if you can't get your hands on one and wanna make your own one? Fret not, fair maiden (s).. I'm your knight in shining armour. I'm gonna give you dupes from Inglot which match the UD palette in quality and colour, of course. Seriously, inglot shadows are grrrreat. You can buy these from shopatmajorbrands.com and now they have a flat 20% sale on.

Ok so here's the Dupe list with a handy (slightly shabby) collage I put together for quick reference. :) Pics have been borrowed from the interweb and if anyone says anything, I shall take them down. :)
Foxy : 328M (matte light peachy yellow beige)
Half baked : 404M (shimmery bronze-y gold)
Booty call : 395P (shimmery beige)
Chopper : 405P (shimmery copper gold)
Tease : 342M (matte taupe medium brown)
Snakebite : 409P (shimmery dark brownish bronze)
Suspect : 402P (shimmery light brownish gold)
Pistol : 420P (shimmery taupe greyish brown)
Verve : 393P (pale shimmery pinkish gold)
YDK : 42S (medium reddish copper)
Busted : 423P (shimmery dark burgundy brown)
Blackout : 391M (dark matte black)

Some shades might not be exact match but work well nevertheless. :)
You could even pick and choose and make your own Naked palette.

Inglot crackle nail polish: NOTD and review

I know I'm extremely late to the party but at least I'm here now. Got a crackle nail polish finally. Was at inglot store recently when the MUA there told me they had just launched their Cracked polishes and that there was a promotional offer on it. What! Offer? Discounts? Yes yes show me. They have some 6 basic shades- black, red, blue, white, green and yellow I think and the MRP on these is 750 but I got it for 490. Picked up the black.

Pics below are clickable.

Base colour-Lakme Orange Color Crush
So this dries very quickly and to a matte finish and as it dries it separates and cracks. In fact it dries so fast that the minute you take the brush out of the bottle it begins to dry- on the brush itself. So you have to be really quick in application. One good thing is you don't have to worry about a neat uniform finish coz it's gonna crack anyway. It's like watching a film develop. Not that I've seen a film develop in person but kinda know what it's like. :p
You could put a top coat over this if you like an all glossy finish.
Oh and I've been wondering- what happens if this dries a little? You know how you add acetone to other nail paints if they dry a little.. I wonder if the same could be done here or if it'll alter the composition or something. There's 15mL in the bottle and it would take a looong time to finish it up, since you can't wear more than one coat at a time anyway.
I've layered it over the orange polish from lakme's colour crush range.

Overall, this is fun to try and gives you an interesting manicure without much effort. But I don't think I'd buy this again coz the novelty wears off pretty soon. There's so much other stuff that's tempting me now like hex glitters, duo chromes and holographic nail paints.

Shopping experience at Shopatmajorbrands.com, Inglot AMC Cream Blush #90 review

Around the same time that I discovered UrbanTouch.com I discovered another cool site called ShopatMajorBrands.com, again offering free shipping and cash on delivery within India. You see a pattern here don't you. This site has some cool shoes by Aldo and some other brands but I was more interested in the make up section. They only stock Inglot but their inventory is quite exhaustive. Yes, I do have an Iglot store in my city and no I'm not just being lazy and ordering online coz the stupid store here doesn't have the one thing I've wanted most- the AMC cream blushes. I'd been to the store and swatched all the shades and even decided which all to get but then the MUA tells me they're not in stock! Grrrr. But anyway its now easier to order online coz I already know which shade I want.

The package

So I wanted to get Inglot's cream blush coz I wanted to try cream blushes from different brands since I don't like powder blushes and want an alternative to check stains coz they aren't available in variety of colours..yada yada yada.. so here I was ordering for the AMC cream blush in #90 which is a peachish pink shade with slight brown undertones. The blush cost me Rs.750, same as the rate in the stores.

The photos below are clickable for a closer look.

Review of the Inglot AMC cream blush#90

Yay for:

  • Cute, sturdy packaging, easy to carry in handbag
  • Intense pigmentation
  • Soft consistency- sort of like whipped cream so it's very easy to blend, this is much softer than the NYX cream blushes
  • Easy to apply with fingers or q-tips
  • Shade looks natural on me, can be used for contouring also
  • Dries down to a semi-powder finish but still looks dewy, doesn't feel oily on cheeks
  • This is much better than NYX cream blushes coz I like the consistency of these better and these look better. NYX blushes are thicker and tend to sit on top of your skin like a cream. These sort of settle into it, if that makes sense.

Boo for:

  • Last only about 4 hours on my oily skin after which it begins to fade
  • Not sweat or water proof
  • It will move around/transfer if you rub your cheeks
  • Can't use a blush brush with this coz the pan is too small and these are too soft to be used with a brush

My shopping experience at ShopatMajorBrands.com?
Quite awesome. Their site is easy to navigate and service is good. I ordered on Monday night and received my package on Friday afternoon after the courier company had called and checked if they can deliver and also remind you to keep the payment ready since I had opted on the Cash on Delivery system. He package came in a large cover and was bubble wrapped neatly. Quite satisfied with my experience. Would definitely recommend this site to others and would be visiting again to shop some more. :)
